Site Transition

25-Oct-2010

Hello All,

The sponsoring company has decided to allow this project to live a little bit longer, until a new direction can be found or the domain name expires - whichever one occurs first.

So, the sponsoring company has graciously provided us with a new server to attempt to develop the service into what it was originally going to be, static document storage. So we are going to attempt to build the service - however the service will be very basic at launch, as requested by the sponsor. Some of these modifications include: a much more limited scope of the project. What does that mean? Well stay tuned to this blog and we will share in the coming week.

Also, if you haven't already noticed, the blog is no longer a WordPress powered site, the reason is during the fast and dirty move to the new server we just forgot about it. So until we get an official WordPress Theme for us to use, we are just going to use this plain-jane page for relaying information.

So keep an eye out for new changes coming down the pipeline in the coming weeks.

P.S. Collaborators are still welcome to join the project, send a basic resume and example of your work to: service(at)staticookie(dot)com

The Future of StatiCookie

25-Aug-2010

Hello All,

We know it has been a while since we started this project and we haven't posted any status report about when the service will be available. Today, that changes, but not for the good.

As we started to develop the core systems of StatiCookie we realized that the project had too many preconceived motions and was too ambitious for our small team. Then during the course of development, we discovered our front-end server had too many limitations to allow the service to even be developed. So during the search for a new front-end server host, we started to realize that the project had to have a uptime greater than most services could handle, due to the storage of critical files that would be hosted on the service. With the uptime requirements, the large scope of the project, and issues with the servers - we come to today, and have decided to reevaluate the future of StatiCookie.

The parent company has a few ideas, however we want to hear from the web design community.

  • Would You Use Off-Site File Storage For Your Projects?
  • Do You Have Any Use For A Third-Party To Host Files For Your Web Sites Or Web Applications?
  • Does A Third-Party Hosting Your Media Files (Videos, Images, Etc) Sound Useful?

Help us reinvent ourselves, to help you design and build your next big project, by posting an idea in the comments below.
